Questions and answers of the III International Scientific and Technical conference " Battery Innovation 2021 "
(offline format)

Questions from Microporous GmbH (answered by Claudia Lorenzini, Vice President of Marketing and Sales, Microporous GmbH)

In which countries do you produce products and is it possible in Russia?

We produce in Austria and in the United States. There is not enough demand in Russia for one production line of PE Separator.

What technique do you use to measure the pore diameter? ... perhaps by bubble point or by microscopic examination?
The main common defect of the battery is a puncture of the separator. Is work being done to increase mechanical resistance without reducing the electrical resistivity?
What actions are taken by manufacturers of separators PE to reduce the effect of electrolyte stratification in batteries?

Questions of the Saratov National Research State University named after N. G. Chernyshevsky (answered by Marina Burashnikova, Doctor of Chemical Sciences, Professor)

If there is a difficulty in introducing an additive, is additional special equipment necessary?

There were no difficulties with the introduction of the supplement. No additional equipment is required.

How does the introduction of the additive affect the process of curing and forming batteries?
Does the battery life increase?
Does the introduction of the additive limit the operating temperature of the battery?

Question to the manufacturer (answers Olga Kirpichnikova, Commercial Director of JSC «AKOM Group of Companies»)

Over the year, the cost of primary Pb lead has increased by 20% (from $1,600 to $2,000). Plus, the producers of the CIS countries are steadily weakening currencies against the $ ratio. How these factors affected production, especially the starter group.

In 2020, not only the exchange value on the LME increased, but also the actual cost of lead and alloys in the Russian Federation. With the weakening of the Russian currency, metallurgists traditionally increase their interest in exports and, as a result, there is a decrease in supply on the domestic market. JSC «AKOM named after N. M. Ignatiev» has a long-term relationship with suppliers, which allowed to minimize the impact of external factors on production support. Obviously, the increase in the cost of manufactured batteries is inevitable in these circumstances.
